Ashley Allen, LCSW

I am an experienced Clinical Social Worker with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organization industry with children, adolescents, and young adults. Majority of my mid-career has been working with unhoused families in shelter and providing clinical support and consultation to social services staff, non-clinical administrators, and incoming MSW/LMSW’s. I am skilled in crisis intervention, clinical supervision, & have strong leadership skills. I have recently transitioned my professional career into the higher education sector, supporting students mental health on campus. I provide direct counseling services to students, workshops, trainings, and consultation to administration, faculty, and staff, and clinical supervision and support to pre-licensed metal health professionals (interns, part-time clinicians).

I am also a private practice owner, based in New York; House of Therapy. I have advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health/PMAD’s & specialize in counseling athletes and their ecosystems. My practice emphasizes treating clients apart of the BIPOC community who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, & other significant life changes & challenges. I approach my work from a psychodynamic lens & use a trauma informed model in how I work with clients.

I hold a Post-graduate certificate in Clinical Supervision from NYU.

  • Specialties: My primary specialty is working with young adults who are engaged in high-performance and achievement-oriented environments, such as academics, athletics, the performing arts (theatre/acting), and high-stress helping professions at both the collegiate and professional levels. I commonly support clients experiencing anxiety, performance-related challenges, depression, body image concerns, low self-esteem, perfectionism, burnout, and complex relationship dynamics. Additionally, I have advanced training in clinical supervision as well as in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).
  • Workshop/webinars: I have provided basic mental health training to provide psychoeducation on college campuses, created and developed mental health emergency action plans (MH EAPs) for university athletics and Global departments with trainings, provided training on managing/recognizing compassion fatigue and burnout.
  • Clients: Athletes in a competitive High school setting, collegiate setting or professional capacity. I also enjoy working with their families and their partners or both as a couple.
